[Guided Tour] Strolling & Experience Tour to Enjoy Nakayama Senmaida and the Rural Kabuki Stage

This is a walking and hands-on experience tour that can only be enjoyed in the Nakayama area of Shodoshima, based on the theme "The Four Seasons of Nakayama Senmaida and Its Water Circulation."

You will stroll through Nakayama Senmaida, explore the beautiful nature of the Nakayama area, and experience over 400 years of history and culture, including terraced rice farming. Additionally, they will have the rare opportunity to visit the interior of the Nakayama Rural Kabuki Stage and equipment storage house, which are usually not open to the public.

For lunch, enjoy the popular "Terraced Rice Field Onigiri Set Meal" at Komame Shokudo, featuring rice from Nakayama Senmaida and locally sourced ingredients from Shodoshima.

Not only will local guides accompany you, but as you explore Nakayama Senmaida, you will also have the chance to meet and interact with local residents, making this tour a truly enriching experience.

Starting from the day before the start date of the trip and going back to the day before the day that falls on the 11th day, free

20% after the day that falls on the 10th day going back from the day before the start date of the trip

30% after the day that falls on the 7th day going back from the day before the start date of the trip

The day before the start date of the trip... 40% of the tour fee

On the day of commencement of the trip... 50% of the tour fee

After starting the trip or without contact, no participation... 100% of the travel fee

      Please note
        1) About Parking

        If you are coming by private car, rental car, or motorcycle, please park at the temporary parking lot at Nakayama Senmaida. Parking in unauthorized areas is not allowed. (Please refer to the parking guide for details.)

        Shuttle service will be provided from the parking lot to Yubune Mountain, the starting point of the tour.

        2) Guidelines for Walking in Nakayama Senmaida
        • Please explore the terraced rice fields by walking.
        • Do not enter the rice paddies or walk on the ridges between the fields.
        3) Ferry and High-Speed Boat Schedule (Example) for Tour Start and End Times
        • High-Speed Boat: Departs Takamatsu Port at 7:40 AM → Arrives at Tonosho Port, Shodoshima at 8:15 AM
        • Ferry: Departs Tonosho Port, Shodoshima at 2:45 PM → Arrives at Takamatsu Port at 3:45 PM
        4) Local Bus Information for Tour Start and End Times
        • From Tonosho Port: Take N-Nakayama Line at 8:21 AM from "Heiwa no Gunzo-mae" bus stop → Arrive at 8:48 AM at "Kasuga Shrine-mae" bus stop → Walk 20 minutes to the meeting point. ( A walking map will be provided. )
        • From Kasuga Shrine-mae: Take N-Nakayama Line at 1:58 PM from "Kasuga Shrine-mae" bus stop → Arrive at 2:17 PM at "Heiwa no Gunzo-mae" bus stop → Walk 5 minutes to Tonosho Port.
        5) About the Lunch Location

        On sunny days, lunch will be served at the rural Kabuki gallery seating area. In case of rain, it will be at Komame Shokudo. The lunch location will be decided based on the weather conditions on the tour day, and you will be informed accordingly.

        8) Walking Conditions in Case of Rain

        On rainy days, the walking paths of the Nakayama Senmaida tour may become slippery. Please follow the guide’s instructions and walk carefully.

        9) Cancellation Policy for Bad Weather
        • The tour will be canceled in case of heavy rain or severe weather (light rain will not cancel the tour).
        • In case of cancellation, the full tour fee will be refunded.
        What to bring

          What do I need to bring?

          • Please prepare for the weather by taking measures against heat or cold. Bring a hat, umbrella, drinks, and insect repellent as needed.
          • As the tour involves walking on farm roads in Nakayama Senmaida, please wear comfortable walking shoes or shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
